KEDARNATH YATRA

Amidst the dramatic mountainscapes of the majestic Kedarnath range stands one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Kedar or Lord Shiva. Lying at an altitude of 3581 m on the head of river Mandakini, the shrine of Kedarnath is amongst the holiest pilgrimages for the Hindus. There are more than 200 shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva in the district itself, the most important one is Kedarnath.

According to legend, the Pandavas after having won over the Kauravas in the Kurukshetra war, felt guilty of having killed their own brothers and sought the blessings of Lord Shiva for redemption. He eluded them repeatedly and while fleeing took refuge at Kedarnath in the form of a bull. On being followed he dived into the ground, leaving his hump on the surface. The remaining portions of Lord Shiva appeared at four other places and are worshipped there as his manifestations. The arms appeared at Tungnath, the face at Rudranath, the belly at Madhmaheshwar and his locks (hair) with head at Kalpeshwar.Kedarnath and the four above mentioned shrines are treated as Panch Kedar.

Kedarnath is named after King Kedar who ruled in the Satya Yuga.He ruled the seven continents and was a very saintly king. He had a daughter named Vrnda who was a partial incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi

Climate:-

Summers (May to August) are very pleasant with moderate climate, with average around 17degree C. Summers is ideal for all sight seeing, temple visit and also for visiting nearby attractions.
Monsoons (September to October) are accompanied with scanty rains and also temperature drops down to 12 degree C.
Winters (November to April) are chilly days with average minimum touching near 5 degree C. Minimum can touch sub zero levels. Snow falling seen very often during winter

May to October offers cool and pleasant climate and the right period to spend relaxing moments in the outdoors and is ideal for temple visits. November to April is snow bound and chilly. Delhi - Haridwar

Morning drive to haridwar / Rishikesh. On arrival check in at hotel. in the afternoon temple tour of Haridwar/Rishikesh. Overnight stay at hotel.
Rishikesh :-, located in the laps of lower Himalayas, and is surrounded by scenic beauty of the hills on three sides with Holy Ganga flowing through it. The whole place is considered to be sacred as it is believed that meditation at this place leads to attainment of salvation. There are many temples-some ancient, some new along the river Ganges. Rishikesh is important not only as pilgrimage centre closely associated with the Ramayana, but also as home for many important centers of Hindu religious thought and spirituality, and as a very great Yoga Centre. There are a great many ashrams and Yoga institutes here.

Haridwar - Guptkashi

Morning after breakfast drive to Guptkashi, en-route visit Devoaryag & Rudarparyag then continue journey towards Guptkashi. On arrival check in at the Camp / hotel. evening free at leisure. Overnight stay at hotel / Camp.

Guptkashi - Kedarnathji

Morning drive to Fata Helipad near Gauri kund, and take a helicopter from Fata then go for Kedarnath and Darshan and afternoon back to Fata and stay in Guptakashi . Tour members should carry personal medicines,

Early morning ( 5:00 AM) check-out from the hotel and drive to Gourikund. From here, we will start 17 Kms trek to Kedarnath.Either by walk, Doli or by horse at own cost. On arrival at Kedarnath, check-in into the guest house / Tent developed by Governmen. In the evening visit Shankaracharya Samadhi behind the temple and take a part in evening Aarti. Early morning kedarnath Darshan then( 7:00 AM) check-out from the hotel and start 17 Kms trek from Kedarnath to Gaurikund,

Garhwal Srinagar - Rishikesh - Delhi

Morning drive to Delhi.inrout visit Rishkesh then drive to Delhi drop you at the Airport / Railway station for onwards destination.
