YAMUNOTRI YATRA

The Shrine of Yamunotri, source of river Yamuna is situated in the direction opposite to Gangotri , can also be visited via Mussoorie and Barkot. Situated at an elevation of 3235 metres above sea-level, the shrine of Yamunotri is one of the "four dhams" of Uttarakhand. The source of Yamuna lies about 1 km. ahead at the altitude of about 4421 metres. There are hot springs close to the temple, a bath in them is very refreshing after a tedious 13 kms. Trek from Hanumanchatti or 5 kms. From Janki Chatti. According to the legend ancient sage Asit Muni had his hermitage here. All his life, he bathed daily both in Ganga and Yamuna. Unable to go to Gangotri during his old age, a stream of Ganga appeared opposite Yamunotri for him. The temple and the place opens every year on the auspicious day of the akshya-tritya, which generally falls during the last week of April, or the first week of May. The temple always closes on the sacred day of Diwali mid- Oct. - 1st week of Nov. "The daughter of the Sun god, Surya and consciousness, Sangya the birth place of the Yamuna is the Champasar Glacier (4421 m) just below the Banderpoonch Mountain. The mountain adjacent to the river source is dedicated to her father, and is called Kalinda Parvat. Kalinda being another name of Surya. Yamuna is known for her frivolousness, a trait that she developed because as per a common story - Yamuna's mother could never make eye contact with her dazzling husband

Climate:-

Yamunotri has an all year cold climate. Summers during April to July are pleasant with temperature ranges within 6�C to 20�C and May-June are the warmest months. Winters during October to March are chilly freeze have temperatures at sub-zero level and are characterized by heavy snowfalls. This season is not suited for any outdoor activities, especially December and January. Rainfalls are very scanty here.

Best Seasson:-

The best time to visit Yamunotri is between May-June and September-November. Due to heavy rainfall in the area, visitors may face difficulty reaching the temple during monsoon season (late June to Aug). The temple usually remains open from last week of April to 2nd week of November.

  • Delhi - Haridwar

  • Haridwar - Badkot

    Today morning pickup from Rishikesh and drive to Barkot via Dehradun, Mussoorie, and en-route visit Kempty fall. Later continue drive to Barkot/Jankichatti. On arrival Barkot/Jankichatti Check In at Hotel / Camp.

  • Badkot /Jankichatt - Yamunotri - Jankichatti/Badkot (6 Kms trek)

    After breakfast start Trek of 06 kms for Yamunotri, On Arrive Yamunotri Holy Dip in Garam Kund, than Pooja and Darshan of Shree Yamunotri Ji, after Darshan and Pooja, afternoon start trek back to Badkot/ Janki Chattii .Overnight stay at Gmvn Guset house/Swisstent/ Hotel. ,
